1. Legal information about the owner

In compliance with article 10 of Spanish Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI-CE), you are informed that the owner of this website and of the Kanlane service is:

Owner
Tax ID (NIF / CIF)
Registered address
Contact email
Website

2. What Kanlane is

Kanlane is a web application for organising work: a task board, calendar, clients and contacts, a password manager, projects shared with a team, and integrations and plugins. It is offered free of charge and can be used with an account, as a guest or without a connection to the cloud, with the data stored only in your browser.

3. Your account

  • You must be 14 or older and have the capacity to accept these terms. If you use Kanlane on behalf of a company, you declare that you can bind it.
  • The details you give us when you sign up must be true and kept up to date. Accounts with email and password must verify the email address.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for what happens with your account. Let us know without delay if you think someone has accessed it without permission.
  • The account is personal. Do not share it: to work with other people, use team projects.

4. Permitted use

You undertake to use Kanlane in accordance with the law, these terms and good faith. In particular, you may not:

  • store or spread content that is unlawful, that infringes the rights of third parties (intellectual property, privacy, data protection, reputation…) or that is offensive, discriminatory or malicious;
  • store other people's credentials or data without their authorisation or without a legal basis for doing so;
  • try to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours, get around security measures, test for vulnerabilities without authorisation or interfere with the operation of the service;
  • overload the service with abusive automated use, or use it to send spam, malware or attacks;
  • enter special categories of data (health, ideology, religion, origin, biometric data, etc.) or data about minors, which the service is not designed for.

5. Your content and third-party data

Your content is yours. You keep all rights over what you store in Kanlane (tasks, notes, files, contacts…). You authorise us only to host, copy and process it to the extent needed to provide the service to you, including sharing it with the members of the team projects you decide on.

You are solely responsible for the content you enter and for having the right to do so. If you store personal data about other people (for example, your clients' contacts) in the course of a professional activity, you are the controller of that processing and we act as processor, under the terms of section 5 of the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

You can download a copy of your content at any time from "Backup". We recommend doing so regularly.

If you turn on encrypted backups in your account, you must keep their recovery key outside Kanlane. Without it we cannot open the backups on another device. You can turn off automatic saving in the browser and delete the saved versions.

6. Saved passwords

  • The password and the notes of each credential are encrypted in your browser with your master password. We do not know it and cannot recover it. If you lose it and did not save the recovery key either, you will not be able to decrypt that data and we will not be able to help you.
  • The other fields of each credential (service name, username, client, address…) are stored unencrypted, except in projects created with "Full encryption" or "Managed by Kanlane".
  • In projects created with "Full encryption", the content is encrypted with an encryption password that we do not know. If you lose it and did not save the recovery key either, the project cannot be recovered and we will not be able to help you. In "Managed by Kanlane" projects the key is held by our server; the details are in the privacy policy.
  • You are responsible for choosing a strong master password, for keeping the recovery key safe and for the security of the devices you access from.
  • Saved passwords are not shared in team projects.

7. Team projects

  • Whoever creates a team project is its owner. They can invite other people by email, give them the role of editor or reader, change it, remove them and delete the project.
  • Members see the project's data and the name, photo and email of the other members. Editors can change and delete the project's content.
  • The owner is responsible for who they invite and for that processing being lawful. If you delete a team project, it is deleted for all its members.
  • You can leave a team whenever you like, unless you are its owner (in that case you must delete it).

8. Third-party plugins and integrations

Kanlane lets you install plugins made by other people and integrate with services such as GitHub. Those plugins and services are not ours: you choose and install them, they are governed by their own terms and policies and, in the case of plugins, they only receive the permissions you grant them. We are not responsible for their content, their operation or the use they make of the data you give them access to. Install only those you trust.

The same applies to the artificial intelligence assistants you connect to a project with a token: the assistant and the company that provides it are not ours, and you decide to connect it and which permissions you give it. What the assistant does with that token (moving tasks, adding notes or creating tasks) is considered done by you, and you are responsible for keeping the token safe and for revoking it when it is no longer needed. It can make mistakes: check what it does.

9. Availability and changes to the service

We do our best to keep Kanlane running continuously, but it is offered "as is", with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability or of being free of errors. There may be interruptions for maintenance, provider failures or causes beyond our control. We may change, extend or withdraw features; if we withdraw one in a significant way, we will give reasonable notice and you will be able to export your data.

10. Intellectual property

Kanlane's design, code, texts, logo and brand belong to its owner or its licensors and are protected by intellectual and industrial property law, except where another licence is expressly stated (for example, the Geist typefaces, under the free SIL OFL licence). These terms do not grant you any right over them beyond the use of the service. You may not copy them, distribute them or create derivative works without permission, except as the law allows.

11. Liability

As the service is free, and to the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damages, loss of profit, loss of data or of opportunities arising from the use of Kanlane or the impossibility of using it, nor for the consequences of losing your master password, of misuse of your account because you did not keep your credentials safe, or of what third parties do (plugins, integrations, other members of a team).

Nothing above limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as that arising from wilful misconduct or gross negligence, nor the rights that consumer law grants you and that cannot be waived. You are liable for the damage caused by use contrary to these terms.

12. Cancellation and suspension

You can stop using Kanlane whenever you like and ask for your account to be closed by writing to us (see the deletion period in the privacy policy). We may suspend or close an account, giving notice where possible, if you breach these terms or if it is needed for security or required by law.

13. Changes to the terms

We may change these terms for legal or technical reasons or because of how the service works. We will show the date of the last revision above and, if the change is significant, we will let you know in the application with reasonable notice. If you keep using Kanlane after they come into force, you will be understood to accept them; if you do not agree, you can close your account.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer or user, the competent courts will be those of your place of residence, in accordance with consumer law; in other cases, and unless the law provides otherwise, those of the city where the owner has its registered address. Before going to court, we encourage you to write to us to try to settle the dispute amicably.

If any clause turns out to be void or unenforceable, the rest will remain in force.
